So, I'd originally planned on making a PMV to Seasons of Love for New Years. However, I ended up releasing that a while back. I'd then planned on not putting out a video for the holiday season, especially after I was struck by terrible editor's block around November, and couldn't manage much more than a couple collab parts. Then 3 days ago, I had the idea for this video. I don't even like this song that much. But I chose to both make this PMV and release on the last day of 2015 because of what it represents. I have a major problem of comparing my own work to that of other's. Especially after people started taking notice of my PMVs, I felt like I had to use effects that I didn't know how to, or even have the capabilities of using (I don't have After Effects, unlike many of the other editors in the community). So, for 2016, my plan is to stop that. Back when I'd first started making PMVs, I made the type of videos I wanted to see - it just so happened that other people wanted to see them as well. But then, around Dear Vienna, I started to think more about the people watching. Seasons of Love, all of my collab parts, and Set Apart This Dream were all more about other people. Whatever ideas I would have, I would take a look at the finished product, and then realize it wasn't as good as whatever videos other people were producing, so I'd try to make them better, fancier, and subsequently make them even worse. So, this PMV is a reminder to me to make videos that I wanna see and enjoy making. To produce the best content I can make, rather than the best people who have been making videos for far longer can make. Going into 2016, I want to make videos you guys enjoy viewing, and I enjoy making. Thanks for watching, and I love you guys.
