Okay, so I hear you saying that it’s been a while and you’re right. And you’re saying that I at least could have called every once in a while just to say hi and let you know that I’m still around, and you probably have a point. And you’re also saying that I’m gonna be buying the rounds for the next year and, well, now you’re exaggerating a little.

But seriously 1588 subscribers??? I’m really, really amazed. A big, no huge, thank you to everyone, especially for being so patient!

Be that as it may, yes, it’s been a long time. I was busy with Real Life stuff and with other musical endeavors. Also the last episode of the show I remember watching is the one where Fluttershy joins an a cappella group… I’m not even sure what season that was (I wanna say… four?) and which one they are on now. I guess I need to watch more TV.

But I had this parody kicking around for a while, I wrote the lyrics a long time ago, but never got around to recording it. So I finally thought that it was high time I worked on it, so I’d have something to put up on the channel. Actually conceptually this parody seems so obvious that I’d be surprised if someone else hasn’t already done it.

Contractually required notes:
- The song is really more a parody of Weird Al’s “Yoda”, than the original “Lola” by The Kinks. I’m just much more familiar with Al’s version.
- I know that in the lyrics I’m conflating Nightmare Moon and Luna. But meter, rhymes and all that good stuff.
- 1588 subscribers! I can’t say that enough. Maybe not a lot by YouTube standards, but more than I ever dreamed possible.
- It’s incredible how MIDI can make it sound like I’m actually decent at playing the piano…
- The ending is what it is. I wasn’t sure what to do (not a big fan of fadeouts) so I decided to go for an experiment and see if I could make it sound really “roomy”.
- There is no note number 6.
- I just need another note so that the joke above doesn’t sit at the end of the list. I’ve got nothing.

On how she came from the moon without a rocketship

Well, I left Canterlot a week ago

So we went off and we searched high and low

I fell off a cliff

We helped Steven Magnet fix his moustache

So Celestia had to take the bull by the horns
“To the moon,” she said and Luna was gone

All this happened a millennium ago
Which tells me that Celestia must be terribly old
And so is Luna
