I find it funny how abstract the concept of family can be.  I also find it funny how many absurd faces we can get Pinkie Pie to make in one episode.
I'm not really sure I'd buy that they're connected, really enough to be considered part of any traditional family structure.  There's just way too much separation on all fronts.  On the other side of the coin, how many other possible names could go where the smudge was on the scroll?  I'm legitimately interested in hearing some opinions on this.
