In November 2022, I participated in the submission for Ponies at Dawn: Wanderlust. Unfortunately, our song was rejected during the announcement of the results despite almost 3 weeks of working on the music. However, it was not and will never be the end as I believe this is the beginning of a brand new journey, a journey that inspires us to empower a new generation of creators with skills and opportunities all around. Throughout this year of working in the brony music industry, we hoped to bring our best possible creations for everypony to enjoy and I think we accomplished our goal, but this is the moment where we aim to go further, dream bigger, and see a wider world.

Massive thanks to Snowz for designing the cover art and sunny_artz_ for additional shading, we are extremely delighted to announce Excursion, our submission for Ponies at Dawn: Wanderlust. Inspired by a modern cyberpunk vibe and a diverse range of instruments from world music, this song is undoubtedly a fusion between cultural folk music and electronic dance music genres. The lyrics also resonate with the wild voyage of Sunny Starscout as she explores different territories and trots into the unknown.

However, what makes this song even more special and meaningful is that the lyrics also reflect my current state as a brony musician. Beginning my journey at a later stage of Generation 4, getting our brony music recognized has never been an easy feat. Many underrated small musicians are often seeking recognition and support in the fandom. This could seem like a daunting task for growing musicians due to the nature of the brony music scene. We are delighted that our team DiversoPonies and many other groups can offer a space for everypony to collaborate and gain recognition through contributing to the fandom, but we also aim to spread this message to raise awareness of the current situation. Owing to that, Excursion is meaningful in the way that it voices out many small musicians and creators seeking recognition and support. Despite not being featured in the album, we hope this piece of work can be an inspiration for everypony to never give up and carry on because you are the future of the brony fandom.

It has been a wild journey despite not being included in Wanderlust. I realized I still have a lot that can be improved after this experience and they will surely be some of my focus for the upcoming year of brony music, but what matters is that I had fun during the process. As a result, I should be very proud of the final product and how I managed to rapidly improve my mixing skills in the past several months. Today, Ponies at Dawn: Wanderlust was released to the public and so is our rejected submission for the album. We hope you enjoy the official release of Excursion just as much as we do.
