Canterlot, now in flames, is brought to a panic as the changelings begin to overrun the defensive effort of the Royal Guard, as their captain is unable to give orders.

As Chrysalis begins to declare her victory over the failing infrastructure, Twilight sneaks away to free Cadence from her captors and Cadence, in turn, frees Shining Armor in hopes to help him drive back the changelings. Shining, who then re-attempts the shield spell and fails, combines his magic with Cadence's and they begin to levitate into the air. Chrysalis look on with surprise as she did not foresee this as a result. The two lovers began to unleash their magic, freeing all captured and purging many of the changelings and banishing the rest, including Chrysalis herself, to the southern wastelands.

As the respective parties begin to recover, so does their plans of the wedding.
