One of my favorite things is to just grab my guitar and play for friends and family. It's intimate and raw; stripped down to just the bare essentials. So I wanted to do an album the was mostly filled with what it would be like if you came to my home and were just sitting around with my family; we'd laugh, have dinner, we'd tell a lot of bad jokes and quote lines from movies, we'd re-enact comedy sketches, and then eventually I'd grab my guitar, and play for you for the rest of the evening. I also wanted to share with you many songs that got me started writing my own music, so many of the songs are from my original album 45 Degrees. This was a time when I was just scratching the surface of song writing, my first thoughts about life and love. I was still a teenager, and going through a lot of first time experiences. And perhaps some of the lyrics may seem unsophisticated and immature, and well, I was (and probably still am J!) So, why the title 54 Degrees? because it is exactly 20% better than 45 degrees (you know my first album I was talking about earlier J.) Seriously, in the 3 years since my first attempt at sharing music with the world, my skill at recording my music is probably 500% better, so perhaps a more appropriate title would've been 225 Degrees, but not everyone is a math nerd, and I'm a modest guy, so we'll just have to stick with 20% better at 54 Degrees. I hope you enjoy what it might be like to come over and hang with me for a night. You can imagine my little brother Jackson over on the piano for a little accompaniment, or maybe on a second guitar. My brothers Aaron, Christian, and Rylan, and my little sister Tori, will probably join in on the harmonies for us. And my Mom and Dad will be watching from the dinner table, just relaxing and enjoying seeing their children make amazing music together. -------------------------------- As for THIS song, it was based on the episode "Pinkie Apple Pie". Have you ever wondered if you were related to someone you've known for a long time? My family and I have certainly done a good amount of family history and genealogy research, and the results can be pretty shocking! If anyone has seen the movie "A Knight's Tale", we found out that we are direct descendants from one of the characters in there. Not the actor, the actual character. -------------------------------- The artwork was done by Inky-Pinkie! http://sta.sh/02b8k8mux4qw -------------------------------- LYRICS: (v1) You are brave, you are honest But no, you will never be the best You could break any promise But you just let your future do the rest A friend, or a friend to the end It's all the same to you You don't let your past Decide who you are, or what you do Oh... (chorus 1) Those eager eyes will always wander, but never wander away Oh and That eager soul is becoming stronger and stronger most every day But will you be The change you want to see? Could you be A piece of the family? (v2) In this desert of wishes The emptiness will always follow me The dream is delicious But bitter is the cold reality A symbol, a sign of hope With a smudge across the end It seems like I'll never know But I can still pretend Oh... (chorus 2) These eager eyes will always wander, but never wander away Oh and This eager soul is becoming stronger and stronger most every day But will I be The change I want to see? Could I be A piece of the family? (bridge) Silly me, silly me How could I belong When this family tree Is already so strong? Silly me, silly me How could I be so wrong? I've been trying to fit in But I need to move along (solo) (chorus 3) Those eager eyes will always wander, but never wander away Oh and That eager soul is becoming stronger and stronger most every day But will you be The change you want to see? Could you be A piece of the family?
