Boom, and it's here now! "Herlafoh" is the acoustic interlude released on my new album "Ephemeral III: Imhnińnie Ščaścia" and was also featured on a new Helpie's Corner album "Shelter of Hope". It was an amazing experiment for me, since once again I used a lot of percussion: crash cymbal, triangle, shaker, linebell, vibraslap and glockenspiel aside from the acoustic guitar with the mandolin. Although this composition sounds great even on the guitar alone, I've decided to arrange it with more instruments and the result is just amazing ^_^ *** ...after our heroes left the village, they needed to cross the ancient everfree forest in order to get to the other side - to Ponyville and further towards Canterlot. During the night among the forest ambience, crickets and occasional noises from behind the trees they hear a song, a sorrowful and sombre ballad. It was him, the everwandering ghost of the forest - Herlafoh, the travelling musician (or what was left of him). Slowly gliding above the ground he was playing the music of old days and telling the stories of old times. This one, for example, was about the war of three tribes: earth ponies, unicorns and pegasi. The dark age of the ponykind... And with his mournful song the dim visions of the pony warriors appeared in the air, reflecting in the fire and in the night fog between the trees and bushes. Being too tired and to afraid to move, our heroes were silently listening to the music and observing the spirits and the ghostly silhouettes desperately and angrily piercing the air with their weaponry and magic spells. Only the bonfire kept reminding them of the fact they were still alive, unlike the long fallen warriors, the ancestors of modern equestrians. A few tears of despair and sadness accompanied one's thoughts of an imminent end of their journey.
