every time i decided to call it "spirit," i wrote songs about love and relationships. so then i'd name it "songs for lovers," but then i would only write songs about perception and experience. so it's both now.

this album is about my experiences and feelings, and about love, and about introspection, revolution, being scared, distance, feeling helpless, feeling hopeful, how i feel now and how i felt in the past, memories... but most importantly of all, relationships. it's about a lot. the songs have more variety than i feel i've put forward in the past, and i really tried some things different with my process this time around. it's also the first time i've sang on most of the songs, and felt comfortable with my singing voice.

i've been working on it since 2015 and it's gone through a lot of different mutations. i'm really excited to finally be able to show everyone what i've been working on for so long.

i can only really find that it sounds like it should when i'm listening to it while talking to people i love, it feels like it has that context implied in the sound of it, to me. it's my arecibo i guess. so hopefully all of you will hear that.
