This song was inspired by King Sombra.  He may not have been a very formidable foe, but he was certainly one of the more evil villains in the show.

Story behind the song:
King Sombra and the Crystal Empire has returned, and the mane 6 go off to stop him, by rejuvenating the spirits of the crystal ponies as they search for the crystal heart.  Unfortunately for the crystal ponies, the mane 6 have failed.  As the crystal ponies enjoy their crystal fair, King Sombra is ready to enslave them once again, turning the crystal fair into a foreboding occasion.  The last dance of the crystal empire.

Essentially this is a waltz to symbolize the crystal fair, with elements of dubstep/brostep (whatever you want to call it) to symbolize the nearing danger and ultimate end of all fun and luxury the crystal ponies have ever a known.  A death waltz, if you will.
