After Gilda was tossed out of Ponyville, the entire hot-blooded griffon species held a grudge against the ponies, especially pegasi. Over time, the relationship between griffons and pegasi grew to pure hatred. Things got so bad that the griffons attacked Cloudsdale in an attempt to take over the skies. A dark and horrible battle ensued.
